Boral’s high-strength concrete Aspire® was specifically developed to maximise floorplans in commercial and high-rise buildings and increase productivity.
Our client, Multiplex, chose Aspire® for The One development for its higher-than-standard elastic moduli and low shrinkage performances. Aspire® addressed the building's differential shortening challenge arising from differing cross-sectional dimensions such as the core wall, mega-columns and thin blade columns of the building, which stands at 274.3 metres.
Aspire® also provided a solution to improve stiffness, reduce drying shrinkage by 200 microstrain and reduce potential creep for thin elements. Multiplex estimated using Aspire® is saving the company an additional 76 days at an estimated cost of $2.3 million in the construction of The One.
Through the development of Aspire® for The One project, Boral received the 2019 Urban Developer Industry Excellence Award for Best New Building Product in Australasia. This award recognises an innovative building and/or construction product within the property industry.
The One is part of a $1 billion Brisbane Quarter development on the site of the city's former law courts. The precinct also features a retail area, 300 George commercial tower and W Hotel.
